Hi guys,
This is me restarting my own blog. It's October 13, 2020 and I am currently on leave from work starting today until October 16, 2020. Why? because I just had a mental breakdown :(
I hate to admit it but yes, I am suffering from anxiety and I know a lot of people are experiencing the same. It's not actually surprising given our current situation - COVID19, incompetent government, stress from everywhere, fear and all the abnormalities.. at some point even the strongest ones will have to cry and release the stress. I know I could've prevented this from happening. I thought making myself busy at work would make me forget all these stressors until my work became my primary stressor and here I am stuck at home, writing this blog, releasing my thoughts and hoping I could also shed some light to people who are experiencing the same.
So what should we do?
1. TAKE A BREAK
Yes, this is actually encouraged. It's ok to rest. Why do you think we have Vacation Leaves? It's not there for no reason.. going back to work-life balance, we deserve to take a break. Our body is a like a machine, it can run for as long as it can but at some point it would reach its peak and would need to get new parts to keep running. #burnout. So don't wait for you to lose it.. take some rest, take care of yourself.
2. DO THINGS YOU LOVE
Nowadays, I barely sing, dance, exercise.. After work, I sleep and then I wake up to work again. What are the things you used to enjoy? Are you still doing those now? If your answer is no, then you might want to try and start those activities again. You'll be surprised that it's such a mood changer. Talking about #endorphins I don't know how much of that I already lost. So join me as I rediscover my hobbies.. try them too :)
3. GET A SUPPORT FUNCTION
Family, friends, mentors, colleagues.. they care for you. When was the last time you talked to them? When was the last time you spent quality time with them? We're so overwhelmed with work and stuff that we don't even have time for them. Re-connect and talk to each other, they will be your source of strength and you'll be theirs too. Lastly, pray.. offer your worries to God, we cannot bear this alone we need someone greater to help us carry this heavy burden. Lift it all up to Him and Trust that he will make things better :)
We can do this!
